Indoor Cubby in 5 minutes

Trapped inside in the rain? Here’s how to build an indoor cubby in 5 minutes for hours of self-entertainment fun.

We’re all getting used to easing of restrictions this week, and finally we can head out to a favourite cafe or picnic spot… Bring on the rains! It was only hours into Winter when Melbourne brought out its finest this week, and so the kids are back inside once again. Here’s a classic idea to keep them entertained – an indoor fort.

1. Grab a few kitchen chairs and bring them into clear space. Perhaps over a soft rug in a safe space, where you can still keep an eye on them.

2. Add a few blankets and cosy cushions… Let them handle the building so you can sit back, and plus that’s where the fun begins! Is it a medieval tower? A temple in the mountains… or a dungeon? Physical play can be a fun space to let the imagination run wild.

3. Bring on the snacks! There’s nothing quite like a special delivery of healthy treats mid-game, so go on… surprise them with a plate of goodies and see them smile.

Pro tip – strike a bargain on who gets to pack up 😌
